William Auflik Music: Learn All About Me

Corporal William Auflik is a saxophonist and composer studying at the College of Southern Nevada with Dr. Lindsey O'Connor.

 

In 2024, Auflik received an Honorable Mention in the Southwest Division of the Music Teacher National Associations Young Artist Composition Competition and won the Nevada Music Teachers Association Young Artist Composition Competition with his piece “Soundscapes” for saxophone quartet. In December of 2024, he conducted the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras Wind Symphony in the world premiere of his “Dust of Snow.” Auflik is currently working on two different commissions that will be premiered in the spring of 2025: “Desolation” for Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts Wind Symphony, and “Clock Work Fanfare” for Clifford J. Lawrence Junior High School.

 

Additionally, Auflik was selected as principal tenor saxophone for the College Band Directors National Association Western/Northwestern Division Conference Intercollegiate Honor Band. He is currently a member of the Las Vegas Youth Saxophone Ensemble, CSN Jazz Combo, and CSN Woodwind Ensemble; Auflik has also previously played with the CSN Jazz Ensemble. He frequently performs as tenor saxophonist with the Nevada Chamber Orchestra and is the alto saxophonist of the Battle Born Saxophone Quartet.

 

Auflik's professional memberships include the National American Saxophone Alliance and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. He previously studied with Carlos Mata and has performed in a solo master class for Alain Crepin.

 

Auflik is a recipient of the Army Achievement Medal for outstanding leadership during multiple missions with the Nevada National Guard.
